We woke up Saturday to a dark, dreary sky and wind that was whipping tree branches and leaves all around. My photographer’s heart sank a little, thinking about all the dreaming Maggie and I had done about lovely locations for shooting their couple images. By the time we got to her, there was literally a monsoon. There are truly no words to describe the power of the great Florida rain that was falling. But, there was no worry, no dampened spirits, no fear. Just joy. Happiness. Peace. An overwhelming sense, that it would all be ok – that despite what was happening with the weather, there was still going to be a beautiful wedding for two people madly in love.
And there was.
And then, as sure as I’m typing these words-I peaked out the windows of the church and the rain- it just ceased. As in, completely stopped. The flooded streets that we drove down to get to the ceremony, all cleared up. Cloudy skies remained and the wind carried Maggie’s veil into the sky, like a fairy tale. What a sweet little blessing for Maggie and Mike. A little nugget of sunshine on their precious wedding day.
Maggie and Mike chose a lovely palette of ivory, pinks and gold; with matching pj’s for the girls, sparkly shoes and some confetti – the celebration began early on!
The ceremony was held at the lovely St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Maggie and her girls braved the rain before she stood in the doorway with her dad.
This moment is one that is always so precious. I wonder each time what thoughts are running through their minds. A dad looking down at his baby girl, remembering all those precious moments of her life. A bride, anticipating beginning a life and family of her own, with the man she loves. This moment, it happens in a split second and I’m so thankful that we froze it in time for Maggie and her dad!
Mike had been doing his fair share of waiting. I love this image of him longingly looking toward the aisle where his bride would walk.
Oh the rain that left us, with only this glorious wind! A perfect setting for the newlyweds and all these lovely girls.
These are two of my favorite images of the guys. First, because when I asked them to gather around and chat, they immediately started talking about Jameis Winston. You won’t find me complaining when there’s talk of a former Noles player! But the real reason these top my favorites is because while they were talking, I noticed Mike doing what many grooms do after the ceremony. He was touching, moving and spinning that wedding ring around and around on his finger. I love that so much! He told me that it felt so heavy on his hand and then we laughed at how years later he’ll feel lost without it. This is the stuff, the details that wedding days are made of. These are the parts you never want to forget!
After a few more images, the newlyweds were swept away and met us at the stunning Pasa Tiempo Waterfront Resort for a little couple time.
Seriously, how beautiful is this place!
Maggie was beaming and Mike, when I asked him to look over at his bride, gave such an authentic smile that I think we all melted.
Ah, more faves!
We had to have a little fun too…
Right as we were about to leave, the Trolley for the guests showed up. How could we even resist a few more pictures?!
Maggie and Mike chose the Boca Ciega Ballroom for their reception site and wow, was it stunning!
A little over 8 weeks ago, Maggie’s sister, Kelly gave birth to Owen; and to say that these two are in love with this little guy would be an understatement. In fact, Maggie even took him out on the dance floor for a few spins. Pretty sure he must have felt like prince charming, dancing with his princess!
Seriously, one of the coolest and most touching parts of this job is building relationships and friendships with our brides. At Maggie’s beautiful wedding, Rahul and I got to catch up with a past bride and groom and get the latest scoop on their lives AND connect and meet up with a new couple who just booked us this past week! What a fun little blessing when we are standing in the midst of friends, not just photographing clients!
Just before the close of the evening, Maggie and Mike cut into their cake and had a little fun with it too!
Maggie and Mike, we are honored that you chose for us to spend this incredible day by your sides, capturing all the precious memories that will live on in your hearts forever. We had more fun than you’ll ever know, laughing and celebrating with you. We look forward to the bright future that you have ahead as husband and wife!
We can’t wait to see you when you get back from your honeymoon!
